Drew Donnelly, PhD
Trust Innovate was set up by Dr Drew Donnelly, a Germany-based compliance consultant to support international companies selling or using AI products in Europe through comprehensive online training programmes.
Education
Drew was educated in New Zealand and Australia and holds:
- a PhD in Legal Philosophy from the University of Sydney [2010-2014]
- a Post Graduate Certificate in Public Policy from Victoria University of Wellington [2015]
- A Master of Arts (with Distinction) in Moral Psychology from the University of Otago [2010]
- A Bachelor of Laws from the University of Otago [2008]
In 2009 Drew was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.

Experience
Drew’s professional compliance career began as a University instructor where he taught in several different areas relating to professional ethics and regulation, and published academic research on anti-corruption regulations and medical ethics committees.
Since 2014 Drew has worked as a regulatory advisor and legal consultant in both the public and private sectors, including:
- The New Zealand Ministry of Education, advising on legislation and the regulation of student fees
- Law Quarter. An Australian law firm focused on innovative commercial law, legaltech and AI solutions. See his Law Quarter profile here.
- Horizons (formerly New Horizons Global Partners). A leading HR tech company, Drew supported global companies to hire employees overseas in full compliance with the law.
